HCP Production of "Annie" Spring 2001
Annie is a Broadway musiical based upon the popular Harold Gray comic strip "Little Orphan Annie", with music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and the book by Thomas Meehan. The original Broadway production opened in 1977 and ran for nearly six years, setting a record for the Alvin Theater (now the Neil Simon Theatre). It spawned numerous productions in many countries, as well as national tours, and won the Tony Award for Best Musical. The musical's songs "Tomorrow" and "Its the Hard Knock Life" are among its most popular musical numbers.
During the 40 plus years of Herricks Community Theater's existance, it has put on many of Broadway's most popular and well known musicals and shows. Our success is attributed to our attention to detail, by harvesting the best talent Long Island has to offer, and by blending all of this with the rich sound of a full orchestra that will absolutely blow you away! Annie remains our most popular show in HCP history setting a record by selling out all of shows in 2001. Don't miss the opportunity to see an incredible reproduction of this musical icon.
